A Cape Breton man is accused of misappropriating and stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in trust funds following an investigation that lasted more than seven years. The investigation involved obtaining statements from more than 100 alleged victims and witnesses in Canada and the United States, as well as obtaining over a dozen judicial authorizations. Mitch Thompson said the complex nature of the documents and COVID-19 travel restrictions delayed the investigation. He added that it doesn't appear as if the funds were spent on a "lavish lifestyle." Boudrot has been charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and criminal breach of trust.
