Member of Parliament for Whitehaven and Workington, Josh MacAlister discovered the campsite beside Ennerdale Water this morning (August 5).
The MP took to social media after finding the unauthorised campsite, asking: "Who on earth thinks it’s acceptable to come to the countryside and do this?"
He hopes to see the culprits receive a fine for the unauthorised campsite.
United Utilities, Forestry England and the National Trust are all landowners in the Ennerdale Valley.
Ennerdale Water is less than 10 miles from Cleator Moor, now obsolete, it was once used as a reservoir, supplying water to households across West Cumbria.
