Major supermarkets have removed disposable barbecues from sale amid warnings of an increase in fires. The Co-op and Tesco are understood to have paused sales of disposable barbecues in July and Sainsbury’s has also agreed to withdraw them until August 12. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue have increasingly called for residents to avoid using disposable barbecues in open countryside areas while the risk of wildfires remains high. The barbecues are already banned on all beaches in Canterbury council, Fylde Council, Bournemouth City Council, and Southend-on-Sea council. A petition started on the Gov.UK demands the nationwide ban of single-use disposable barbecues.
