Egypt’s Culture Ministry brought music, puppetry and traditional dance to a Cairo metro station, offering moments of joy to children visiting nearby hospitals and their families after medical appointments.
Performers took part, including a puppet troupe which staged shows combining entertainment and educational messages about hope, confidence and life.
A youth folk arts troupe also performed dances inspired by Egyptian heritage, introducing children to traditional arts and promoting pride in the country’s cultural identity.
Sayeda Zeinab station was chosen because of its proximity to several children’s hospitals.
Hundreds of children and their families pass through the station each day on their way to or from treatment.
