Brian Eno’s seminal album, ‘Ambient 1: Music for Airports’, will be performed live at Manchester Airport next month by six musicians from Manchester Camerata.
The orchestra will play the album twice in full on 20th September, with the free performances open to passengers travelling through the airport and a limited number of non-travelling guests.
Records and Polydor Records, ‘Ambient 1: Music for Airports’ was the first Brian Eno release to be labelled as “ambient”, although it was not his first work in the style.
Last year, the Eno album inspired Grammy-nominated producer Jordan Rakei to create ‘Music For Heathrow’, an album produced entirely from field recordings taken at London’s Heathrow Airport.
Similarly, earlier this year, Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 renovated one of its bars with a theme around the famed Haçienda nightclub.
