DB arrested former Gazipur-5 MP Akhtaruzzaman from the capital’s Baridhara area last night. A team from the Detective Branch of DMP arrested the 73-year-old former Awami League lawmaker around 9:30pm, DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Shafiqul Islam told The Daily Star. “He is involved in activities linked to the banned organisation. We have intelligence information regarding his involvement,” Shafiqul said. He added that Akhtaruzzaman is accused in a murder case related to the July uprising.
