Jerry Maxwell Ammons Sr., 65, of Dallas, N.C., passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026. He was born on September 29, 1960 in Mooresville, N.C., to the late Willie Elwood Ammons and Mary Marr Ammons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra L. Ammons; sister, Minnie Sue Johnson; and stepmother, Joan Ammons. Jerry is survived by his children, Matoka Ammons Morris (Shane), Maria Dawn Tyler, and Jerry M. Ammons Jr.; sisters, Mary Clark and Avis Laseter; brothers, Larry Ammons, Billy Ammons (Pam), and Ray Ammons; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 7, at Bethel Cemetery in Aynor, S.C.Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Ammons family.
