A female officer at Coxsackie Correctional Facility was diagnosed with a concussion after being punched in the face by an inmate last week. The attack happened Saturday, September 27, as inmates were returning from afternoon recreation. According to officials, a 47-year-old inmate serving 20 years to life for murder approached the officer aggressively without provocation. When the officer ordered him to back up, he refused and punched her in the face with a closed fist. The officer was treated by medical staff, then transported to a local urgent care, where she was diagnosed with both a concussion and whiplash.
