An Amish buggy was struck by a speeding car Friday morning in the town of Schuyler, throwing both occupants onto the road and sending one to the hospital, State Police said.
Troopers say the crash happened around 7:58 a.m. on Cosby Manor Road, when a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta tried to pass the buggy at an unsafe speed.
The driver, 45-year-old Matthew L. Walker of Remsen, was following the horse-drawn buggy too closely before attempting to pass.
One of the buggy occupants, Andy J. Troyer, 30, of Poland, was taken to Wynn Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other, 40-year-old Moses J. Swartzentruber, also of Poland, was not hurt.
