From this month onwards, videos generated entirely by artificial intelligence will no longer be eligible for recommendation on Spotlight. Snapchat said the change comes as low-quality, repetitive AI-generated content becomes increasingly common across the internet. The company said the number of unique Spotlight contributors worldwide has increased by more than 120 per cent compared with last year, as experienced creators and everyday Snapchat users continue to share original content on the platform. Snapchat acknowledged that no detection system is perfect but said its goal is to ensure authentic creativity has the best opportunity to be discovered on Spotlight. Content enhanced or edited using Snapchat’s AI creative tools will remain eligible for recommendation and will continue to include transparency indicators.
