The initiative, organised by Freedom Leisure and Braintree District Council, is running throughout August at Braintree Swimming and Fitness, Halstead Leisure Centre and Witham Leisure Centre. The scheme aims to help families stay active during the school holidays while easing the financial pressures many households face over the summer. Alongside free swimming, a range of low-cost activities will also be available, including inflatables, fun and floats sessions, and £1 badminton, table tennis, squash and athletics sessions at selected centres. Toby Williams, councillor responsible for leisure and wellbeing, said the programme offers families an affordable way to stay healthy and spend time together. He added: “We're delighted to be working with Freedom Leisure to offer free family swimming sessions throughout August.
