A time capsule containing different items, newspapers and messages documenting life in 2026 has been buried beneath Prague’s reconstructed Wenceslas Square. The capsule was placed on Wednesday, August 5, near the statue of St. Wenceslas as work continues on the upper section of the square. The Prague New Town Association, which is involved in activities around the statue and the surrounding area, organised the ceremony. It also contains proposals submitted by architects during the competition for the redesign of Wenceslas Square. The association estimates that Wenceslas Square could undergo another major reconstruction in roughly 50 years, although nobody can predict when the next intervention will actually take place.
