We've all seen those heartbreaking headlines where someone loses their life savings to a scammer, and now, a devastating story just played out right here in Caddo Parish. According to the Shreveport-Caddo Financial Crimes Task Force, a local homeowner recently hired a contractor for residential repairs and remodeling, paying over $60,000 for the project. When detectives investigated the complaint, they discovered the contractor, 39-year-old Erick Guevara-Escobedo, was performing residential work without a valid Louisiana license. Following an admission during questioning, he was arrested and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on one count of Residential Contractor Fraud.
