Russian forces used a combination of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, targeting warehouses and commercial operations.
According to Ukrainian officials, Russia fired 24 ballistic missiles in total, alongside four additional missiles that were identified as Zircon hypersonic or Oniks supersonic cruise missiles.
Ukrainian air defenses largely intercepted the drones, but failed to shoot down any of the ballistic missiles – a problem that appears to have become an almost nightly occurrence for Ukraine.
“As of now, 44 people have been reported injured in the massive Russian strike on Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
It was a heavy strike – 24 ballistic missiles, 4 Zircon/Oniks missiles, and another 115 drones, a significant number of them jet-powered,” Zelenskyy said.
