IBAC SLAMS ‘CONCERNING’ CONDUCT IN ANDREWS-ERA ‘BACKROOM’ DEALEight years after it began, and two Labor premiers later, the Victorian Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission has published its investigation into how the state’s former Daniel Andrews government resolved a dispute over a firefighting enterprise bargaining agreement.
The IBAC did not find any corrupt conduct by anyone involved, nor any evidence of the claim of blackmail that sparked the inquiry.
But it did note “serious and concerning conduct by senior public officers, including ministers and members of Parliament relating to the negotiation of the [Country Fire Authority] EBA, the [Metropolitan Fire Brigade] EBA, and the establishment of [Fire Rescue Victoria]”.
