“We are thrilled to offer this program for our students,” said Joliet Public Schools District 86 Superintendent Dr. Theresa Rouse, “Thank you to the Joliet Park District and the University of Illinois Extension Center for this valued partnership and their continued support.” In addition to exploring and studying animal habitats at Pilcher Park and Hickory Creek, the students focused on several nature topics. The Kids ‘n Nature program is a partnership with Joliet Public Schools District 86, the Joliet Park District, and the University of Illinois Extension, Will County. Over 60 Joliet Public Schools District 86 elementary students participated in the Kids ‘n Nature Summer Camp Program at Pilcher Park and the Bird Haven Greenhouse this summer. As some seek to erase or diminish Black joy, we must remember that indulging in joy itself has always been an act of resistance.
