A Philadelphia dairy is giving cheese lovers a new way to shop, offering handcrafted cheeses through a refrigerated vending machine that’s open 24 hours a day.
According to Atlas Obscura and 6abc Philadelphia, the vending machine is located outside Perrystead Dairy in the city’s East Kensington neighborhood.
The credit card-only machine is open around the clock, and outdoor benches provide a place to enjoy purchases on-site.
The vending machine sits about five blocks from Philadelphia’s Berks transit station, making it a convenient stop for commuters, neighborhood residents and visitors exploring the area.
While vending machines have long been associated with snacks and beverages, specialty food producers are increasingly using the technology to expand access to fresh, locally produced foods outside traditional business hours.
