Rain lashes Kashmir parts; cloudburst hits Kulgam

MeT warns of flash floods, landslidesJammu Tawi, Aug 05: Rainfall lashed several parts of the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday, while a cloudburst was reported in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, prompting authorities to remain on alert amid forecasts of more rain over the coming days.
According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, light to moderate rainfall was recorded across parts of Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, with significant precipitation in the Jammu region.
Kathua received 81 mm of rain, followed by Udhampur 66.6 mm, Katra 51 mm and Samba 47 mm.
The MeT office has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places between August 6 and 8, with the possibility of brief intense showers at a few locations.
The weather office warned that heavy rainfall and intense showers during August 5 and August 9-11 could trigger flash floods and landslides at vulnerable locations and advised people to remain cautious.
