BURBANK, United States – Disney and TikTok have reached a new agreement allowing creators to legally use clips from Disney films and television content in their videos, covering popular franchises including Star Wars, Toy Story, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Okay News reports that the partnership will first launch in the United States before expanding to other markets. Videos created under the arrangement will also be featured on Verts, Disney’s recently launched short-form video platform. According to TikTok, its platform recorded an average of 6.5 million film- and television-related posts every day last year. The new arrangement is expected to reduce copyright disputes over fan-made videos while providing selected creators with promotional support and access to exclusive Disney events as the company expands Verts beyond the U.S.
