U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS) on July 30 proposed a bipartisan bill that would assist trafficking survivors who lack government issued identification in accessing air travel. “Victims of human trafficking often lack a government-issued ID needed for air travel, hindering their ability to find safety or reunite with family,” said Sen. Moran. The congressman cosponsored the Jimmy Deal Trafficking Survivors Assistance Act of 2026, S. 5192, alongside bill sponsor U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) to help survivors of human trafficking reach safety. If enacted, S. 5192 would establish a partnership between Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents and anti-human trafficking service providers to help survivors escape traffickers and return home. The bill would require every TSA screening airport to designate a trained employee as a Trafficking Survivor Point of Contact.
