Speaking to reporters after attending a BJP function in Srinagar marking the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Andrabi alleged that regional political parties had used the special status to promote separatism and unrest in Jammu and Kashmir. She claimed that the constitutional changes had freed the region from "violence and bloodshed" and placed it on the path of peace, development and growth. Responding to the demand by several regional parties for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, Andrabi said Parliament had taken the decision to abrogate Article 370 and that it was irreversible. She said attempts to revive the issue would not benefit the people and asserted that every resident of Jammu and Kashmir enjoys equal rights and opportunities as citizens of the country. Andrabi also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for, as she put it, fulfilling his promise of bringing lasting peace and ushering in an era of development in Jammu and Kashmir.
