New Delhi, Aug 5: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Ali Khatana on Wednesday said the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A had ushered in a new era of peace, development and democratic empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir. Referring to the 1987 Assembly elections, he claimed electoral malpractice had contributed to political alienation and prolonged unrest. Khatana said the post-2019 period had witnessed improvements in security, infrastructure, healthcare, education, tourism and digital connectivity. He also cited the expansion of highways, tunnels, railways, airports, medical colleges and educational institutions as indicators of development. Khatana described the abrogation of Article 370 as a landmark reform that had laid the foundation for lasting peace, prosperity and inclusive growth, and urged people to continue supporting democracy, unity and development.
