Magray: I met Jawaharlal Nehru, Gulzarilal Nanda, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. What I remember most is how the senior leadership respected even ordinary party workers. That culture of valuing grassroots workers made a lasting impression on me. In 2002, militancy was at its peak, yet I contested to keep the Congress organisation alive during a very difficult period. I have told Rahul Gandhi that Congress must reconnect with genuine grassroots workers and end internal divisions.
