Srinagar, Aug 5: An Additional Sessions Court in Baramulla has granted regular bail to an accused in a 2018 murder case after he spent more than eight years in judicial custody while the trial remained pending. During the investigation, it was alleged that the accused, along with a co-accused, conspired to murder her, disposed of the body in a forest area, and attempted to destroy evidence. The defence also relied on the principles of parity and prolonged incarceration. The Court clarified that the observations made in the bail order would not affect the merits of the trial. Qazi Mohammad Athar, whose persistent legal efforts and effective advocacy resulted in securing the bail after prolonged custody.
