The surgery was successfully carried out on August 3, 2026, on a 45-year-old female patient, who was managed entirely at Trauma Hospital Kangan without requiring referral to any tertiary care hospital. Hospital officials said the successful laparoscopic removal of such a large endometriotic ovarian cyst reflects the institution's enhanced expertise in managing advanced gynaecological conditions through minimally invasive techniques. Laparoscopic surgery offers several advantages over conventional open surgery, including smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, less post-operative pain, faster recovery, shorter hospital stay and quicker return to normal activities. Officials also noted that the latest achievement builds upon the hospital's earlier success in advanced laparoscopic surgery. On July 9, 2018, Trauma Hospital Kangan created history by performing its first major laparoscopic surgery in Ganderbal district, during which a giant benign tumour measuring approximately 20 × 15 centimetres and weighing around 4.5 kilograms, containing clear fluid, was successfully removed.
