The incident marks the second cloudburst to hit Boniyar tehsil in the past fifteen days, raising concerns among residents over recurring weather-related disasters in the area.
According to officials, the cloudburst occurred in the forested upper reaches of Lachipora during the afternoon, leading to a sudden surge of water mixed with mud, rocks and fallen trees.
The flash floods created panic among residents, prompting authorities to remain on high alert.
The latest incident comes barely two weeks after a similar cloudburst struck the upper reaches of Mayan village in Boniyar tehsil on July 23.
That cloudburst had triggered flash floods that washed away culverts, disrupted road connectivity and other essential services, and prompted rescue and restoration operations by the district administration and police.
