DOUGLAS COUNTY — A resolution passed by the City of Alexandria and the Alexandria School Board about no parking on McKay Avenue in front of Discovery Middle School during the school day raised some concerns with Douglas County commissioners. Schmidt said he was not excited about the no parking zone and that he feels it will just create a bigger problem. A motion and second was made to approve the no parking zone, but every commissioner voted no and the motion failed. Instead, they approved a shortened no parking zone at each entrance point. Larson presented three budgets and recommended changing the name of the county Coroner’s Office to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
