BCC to host NCWorks ‘Scam Jam’ to help local job seekers avoid employment fraudBrunswick Community College (Photo/Sarah Johnson/WWAY)BOLIVIA, NC — The NCWorks Career Center at Brunswick Community College will host NCWorks ‘Scam Jam’: Protecting Your Job Search from Fraud, Scams, and Identity Theft on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Douglas Terhune Center for Culinary Arts. The free public event is designed to help students, job seekers, career changers, veterans, older workers and other community members recognize employment scams, protect personal information and connect with trusted workforce resources. Featured presenters include representatives from the North Carolina Department of Justice, North Carolina Department of Insurance, North Carolina Department of Labor, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU), NCWorks Career Center and a panel of local employers. Panelists include representatives from Brunswick Community College, Protocase/45Drives USA Division and Home Instead. The event is hosted through a partnership between Brunswick Community College, the NCWorks Career Center, state agencies, law enforcement, employers, financial institutions and community organizations.
