But as they pulled back to safety, the tiny toddler appeared at the front door of the residence. Southern Region Assistant Commissioner Matthew Vanderbyl said officers then made the split-second decision to go back to rescue the toddler. Inside the home, officers found a 45-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman dead, while a toddler was found alive at the property.
