Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Hereford Wye Valley hosted the event at a member’s home, braving several downpours to welcome visitors and sell home-grown plants and homemade cakes. The sale brought in £735 for The Cart Shed, a Herefordshire charity that supports people’s mental health and wellbeing through woodland-based activities and courses. All the plants on offer were grown by club members from seeds and cuttings, proving popular with gardeners despite the damp early summer weather. At a gathering in late July, the club presented a cheque to Cart Shed chief executive Katie Eastaugh to support the charity’s work. Fundraising for The Cart Shed will continue later in the year, with BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Monty Don due to appear, in conversation, with BBC Midlands Today’s Mary Rhodes at Weobley Church on September 11.
