New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Dr. Lily Laux announced making it a priority to modernize the school funding formula in the coming months. “We’ve also heard clearly from many communities that the school funding formula can feel unpredictable and difficult to understand,” Laux stated. Laux said modernizing the school funding formula is a top priority that she will be relentless in pursuing in the coming months. She said there were workshops at the conference over the weekend designed to gather resident feedback on the overhaul of the school funding formula. Alongside the school funding formula, Laux said she is aware that there are real cost pressures on districts at the moment.
