A startup that didn’t exist eight months ago just signed a six-year, $10 billion contract to supply Nvidia-powered computing power. The company raised $300 million across seed and Series A rounds at a $2.4 billion valuation, and separately launched a $5 billion infrastructure program with asset manager Azora to fund more sites. The Norway facility runs at 133 megawatts, and Volta says it already has a pipeline of more than a gigawatt of near-term power capacity across North America and Europe. So far, AI infrastructure has mostly grown through one-off GPU orders, purchases tied to whatever a company needs that quarter. A six-year capacity agreement tied to a specific site looks nothing like that.
