The apology follows street lighting works at the junction of Central Drive, Promenade and Jubilee Bridge on Monday, August 3. "The temporary traffic management arrangements did not perform as intended, resulting in congestion that was far greater than anticipated, and we know that this fell below the standards the public rightly expect." The council spokesman said: "While the works were necessary to replace ageing street lighting columns, we are sorry for the impact on those affected. "We are reviewing our traffic management arrangements and internal processes to help prevent similar issues in future." Remaining works in the area are expected to be finished within the next 10 working days, and will not require the use of temporary traffic signals, the council said.
