Irvinestown brothers bring forgotten folk songs to life

TWO brothers from Irvinestown are preparing to begin production on an ambitious feature-length documentary exploring the journey of Irish-American folk music from Donegal to the United States.
AdvertisementThe documentary will follow his route through New York, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Butte, Montana and Spokane, Washington, while uncovering Irish-American folk songs that have been preserved in archives but largely forgotten over time.
The film will also celebrate traditional music closer to home by featuring interviews and live performances from folk musicians across Donegal, Tyrone and neighbouring counties.
Speaking about the project, Luke Taggart said his background in music videos led to the opportunity after meeting Curran in New York last year.
“Melanie is an Irish-American folk musician who researches songs that have been lost through time.
