A District Court Judge in Donegal has given Gardai two weeks to advance the case of four men charged with the unlawful taking of a car in January of this year. In adjourning the matter to that date, Judge O’Reilly marked that aspect peremptory against the State. “It is reasonable that we can expect that the file goes to the DPP,” Judge O’Reilly said. The charge is contrary to section 112 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, as amended by section 65 of the Road Traffic Act 1968, and as amended by section 18 of the Road Traffic Act 2006. Judge O’Reilly adjourned the case against all four men until August 19.
