North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information about the incident at a Network Rail site in Nether Poppleton at about 10.20pm on Monday (August 3). The force said four people broke into the site by cutting through fencing and damage “several drums of high value cable”. A police spokesperson said the alleged suspects were seen fleeing the area on foot towards the Arnold Clark dealership. They said the cable had been cut and placed on the ground, “apparently ready to be removed from the site”. Police said four men, aged between 36 and 46, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken into custody.
