GREECE, N.Y. — Greece Police Chief Michael Wood filed a legal notice of claim against the Town of Greece, Town Supervisor Jeff McCann and the town board, alleging they are trying to force him out of his job. The notice, filed July 20 but shared with News10NBC today, claims town officials have been attempting to push Wood out since March 11 “improperly and illegally attempting to force (Wood) out of his position as the Town Chief.” The Town of Greece has 90 days to answer the Notice of Claim. The Notice of Claim says the 2022 NYSP investigation goes back to 2019 and “does not establish that Chief Wood engaged in misconduct.” Despite the open investigation, Chief Wood has decided to file a claim against the Town.
