Smoke billows as second grass fire in two days breaks out on Woolwich Common

Around one hectare is burning on Woolwich Common. London Fire Brigade said: "We were called at 1.47pm to a grass fire on Woolwich Common today. This comes after around two hectares of grass and shrubland were destroyed in a major fire at Woolwich Common yesterday, August 4. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to the blaze near Shrapnel Close after the London Fire Brigade received nearly 30 emergency calls.
