Ghanaian hiplife and jazz artist, songwriter and producer Obofour Raphael (born Raphael Dickson) has been welcomed into the Recording Academy’s Class of 2026, becoming a voting member of the body behind the GRAMMY Awards. He joins more than 4,000 music professionals invited this cycle — the Academy’s largest class of invitees to date, joining a community whose votes help decide the GRAMMY nominees and winners each year. “Being welcomed into the Recording Academy is a humbling honour,” said Obofour Raphael. “After more than two decades rooted in hiplife, highlife and Afrobeats, I’m proud to carry Ghanaian music to this global stage.” As a new voting member, Obofour Raphael will take part in the process for the 69th GRAMMY Awards, with the ceremony set for February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.
