On December 19, 2023, Ijere was driving the ambulance along the B1506 at Moulton while heading for an address in Newmarket. Jane Blampied, 70, was driving her Volkswagen Golf driver in the opposite lane when Ijere “drifted” into her path. The two vehicles collided, with the crash causing Mrs Blampied’s car to rotate, coming to a rest in the eastbound verge. Mr Dawbarn and Mrs Blampied were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where they both died on December 21, two days later.
