The National Trust launched the fundraising campaign last week after 150 hectares of the land was destroyed by the blaze - which continues to burn a week on.
Hilary McGrady, director-general of the National Trust, described her heartbreak seeing the site on Wednesday, August 5.
"A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has given – £350,000 has already been raised, all of which will go directly to Dunwich.
Contributors to the appeal have been assured that all funds raised up to the £500,000 target will directly support recovery efforts at Dunwich Heath.
Ms McGrady said that if donations exceed the target, extra funds will be directed to other National Trust landscapes affected by fires this year.
