The Sturgis District Library had its bond proposal passed in Tuesday’s election. The bond proposal surpassed 61 percent “yes” votes to authorize continuing an annual millage. The proposal’s purpose was to provide funds for all district library purposes authorized by the law. It’s a renewal of the operating millage originally passed in 2006 which was renewed back in 2016. Nearly three quarters of a million dollars ($724,000) is estimated to be collected by the library in the first year.
