According to Sherveen Uduwana, the treasurer of the UVW, the Hardship Fund comes out of a need to address workers’ immediate needs.
“When I was running for the treasurer position, I said, ‘We should do a hardship fund.’
And, perhaps, initiatives like the Hardship Fund can help to build out some of that community infrastructure in the present.
