John Muir Health’s Concord and Walnut Creek medical centers have once again been named Best Regional Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 2026-27. Walnut Creek Medical Center also earned high-performing recognition in Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. Among nearly 50 hospitals in the San Francisco metro area, Concord and Walnut Creek ranked in the top four. John Muir Health operates nearly 750 licensed beds between the two medical centers. Walnut Creek Medical Center has served as Contra Costa County’s designated trauma center for the past 40 years, and the health system includes more than 1,200 primary care and specialty physicians.
