Lang8/5/26The Cedar Rapids man accused of shooting five people on the Ped Mall last spring will not have his trial separated from his alleged accomplice.
Online records show on Monday Judge Justin Lightfoot denied 18-year-old Damarian Jones’ request to sever his trial from that of 18-year-old Ka’Mari Dozier of Cedar Rapids, who’s accused of giving Jones the gun used in the shooting.
Jones faces five counts of Attempted Murder, three counts of Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, two counts of Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, and one count of Going Armed With Intent.
The 12 adults range in age from 18 to 26 years, and none of them come from Johnson County.
Ten are from Cedar Rapids, and one each are from Marion, Dubuque, and Burlington.
