Market Place is set to host Geek Weekend on Saturday, August 15, and Sunday, August 16. Activities include Pokémon card swapping, comics and graphic novels, collectables and merchandise, independent artists and creators, geek traders, gaming, retro gaming, anime and fandom and a cosplay competition. Unlike a traditional comic convention, the event focuses on geek culture as a whole rather than cosplay and celebrity autograph sessions. No tickets are required and visitors can simply turn up, according to Market Place. Market Place Bolton is on Knowsley Street and Bridge Street in Bolton town centre.
