AM/NS India Steel Powers Indian Navy's Newly Commissioned INS Malvan

New Delhi: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) supplied 100% of the specialised steel required to build INS Malvan, the Indian Navy's latest indigenously built Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Watercraft (ASW-SWC), commissioned on 22 July 2026 at Karwar, Karnataka.
The milestone further strengthens AM/NS India's contribution to India's self-reliance journey by supplying critical materials for strategically important national programmes.
Mr. Ranjan Dhar, Director & Vice President - Sales & Marketing, AM/NS India, said: "The commissioning of INS Malvan demonstrates how advanced manufacturing in India is supporting the country's defence preparedness.
AM/NS India is supplying all of the specialised steel required for the fleet of eight ASW-SWCs being built for the Indian Navy.
Beyond this programme, the company has supplied specialised steel for key naval platforms including INS Visakhapatnam and INS Surat.
