According to data released by the Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agriculture University on Wednesday, farmers, till July 29, had sowed crops in 10 per cent more area than they did by the same date last year.
The sown area accounts for 34 per cent the normal cropped area, which is 98,13,628 lakh acres.
The districts with the lowest percentage of sown area currently are Khammam with 16.5 per cent, Wanaparthy with 17.3 per cent, and Warangal with 20.1 per cent.
As in the past, this year too, the major share of the cropped area so far was devoted to raising paddy, cotton, and maize.
