The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at the residence of former YSRC MLA Malla Vijayaprasad in Seethammadhara in Visakhapatnam, in connection with an alleged financial fraud and chit fund case. The searches are linked to cases registered by the Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) against Welfare Buildings and Estates. Vijayaprasad was arrested by the Odisha EOW in 2021 in connection with the case and was later released on bail. The ED is investigating the financial transactions and suspected money laundering linked to the alleged fraud. No official statement had been issued by the agency on the searches till the filing of this report.
