Petaluma City Schools is welcoming Davina Goldwasser as its new superintendent ahead of the upcoming school year starting August 12th. The Petaluma Argus-Courier reports Goldwasser, a former social worker who spent over fifteen years in Oakland and San Francisco district leadership, says her background shapes her commitment to supporting underserved and multilingual students. She takes the helm at Sonoma County’s second-largest district alongside a newly refreshed administrative team. Top priorities for her tenure include fiscal responsibility following a six-million-dollar budget cut, alongside enhanced communication and early intervention for at-risk eighth graders. Goldwasser says she aims to build long-term financial stability while ensuring local students and staff continue to receive the resources they need to succeed.
